This is Hamilton. He arrived as an egg with 3 other eggs. I purchased them from eBay to help a woman who said she was selling her prized eggs to help her recover from a hurricane that had wiped her out (I'm a sucker). They were supposed to be Lavender Orpingtons. All 4 eggs hatched and none of the chicks was an Orpington, let alone a Lavender Orpington. The others were very weird and had deformities; only this guy was healthy. Let me just say he is the best roo I've ever had in almost two decades of roosters. From the beginnning he was a very special little guy. He has a home with me regardless. I've hatched out his progeny and they are healthy and robust. The pullets are different colors. I get white and red pullets from him. All excellent layers. Hamilton is the leader of my Cinnamon Queen flock. They are all 3 years old. He is excellent with them and very mellow with everyone. He alerts me to trouble. I thought maybe he is a Cinnamon Queen roo. He kind of looks like one. But I'm curious and would like to hear opinions.

My guess is that he is an Orpington of mixed coloring. Maybe lavender crossed with jubilee. Or maybe a coronation Sussex cross. Impossible to be sure, but he has an unusual and attractive color pattern.

Really? That would be great. He is the only one that hatched out this color. The others were yellow but they didn't look at all like Buff Orpingtons either. Thank you.

He has some kind of gene that is diluting his colors, and I think it's the lavender gene. But like I said, that's only a guess. He has white legs and beak, and that is why I think he has Orpington or Sussex in him.

Thank you. I'm not up on genetics as you can probably tell. :D Looked up Coronation Sussex and there is a physical resemblance. That would be so sweet. Whatever he is, is okay. But he has a special quality that he has passed to his daughters.... something special about him.

He's very unique, and sometimes you just get a bird with a great personality. You're lucky.
