what breed is it?

    Can you please tell me what breed this is we think that it is an ameracana but are not sure. Iread somewhere that they are pretty rare. We bough it as a mystery chicken at a feed store in utah. We also think that it is a female. Any and all answers are appreciated. Oh and it is not laying yet so we cat tell you egg color. for pic follow link below.

    She is an Ameraucana. They are common. Maybe the one you read about that are rare are True Araucanas. (people confuse the 2 all the time) Both of them lay blue-green eggs [​IMG] Oh and yes she is a girl [​IMG]

    It's actually an Easter Egger, which is a mixed breed that most hatcheries sell. These have either or/both Araucana and Ameraucana blood (which are seperate breeds).

    People get them confused all the time, but a good rule of thumb to follow is that you can only get Ameraucanas and Araucanas from breeders. If you didn't seek out a breeder, then you have an Easter Egger.
