What breed is my beautiful roo?

He doesn't charge me often. It's usually just when he decides I'm around his hens for too long. I'd sure hate to cull him. I'd like to have babies running around once my barred rocks are mature.

It all depends on whether you want to put up with his behavior or not. I personally wouldn't, but I keep lots of roosters and aggression wouldn't be tolerated from any of them. Keep your eye on him. Roosters are small but they can be dangerous.

Don't ignore him or kick him when he charges you. This will encourage aggressive behavior. Instead, catch him and pin him down on the ground until he stops struggling, which will show him that you are dominant.
