What breed is my puppy...Newfoundland?

Quote:
Yeah, just got the large breed puppy food & trained her to sit, lay down, come, leave, lead & NO! She's only messed in the house twice in 2 weeks. She has markings that a Newfie can have but is not at all a goofball...she's very good on her feet & not at all clumsy. Her collar is loose & look how her fuzz puffs around it. Her name is Ayla.

Two pieces of advice.

Get ready for a large food bill. My guy eats 11 cups of dry food per day and he is lean.

Also, teach her a "Leave It" command ASAP. My guy is tall enough to just walk up while your having dinner and rest his head on the table while you eat, ditto for the counters and the stove. He had gotten his nose into places they don't belong.

Gryffin also loves to trot through the house taking out anything in his path. I hate that!

When he was younger like your girl he was so mellow and lovely, he was light on his feet and careful where he went. Then he hit about 8 months old and started getting crazy, overnight he went from sleeping all the time and being a big dopey puppy to trying to zoom around full tilt.
Be ready and you'll be fine. Don't ever let her jump up on you unless you're fine with 100+ pounds of dog doing it later. They are scary smart.

8 months, all awkward, longer than he was tall.

He looks pretty much the same right now, except that he taller. I cannot wait for him to fill out later in life, he's like a bean pole!

Agree w/ the spaniel mix--the face is too pointy to be 100% Newf. And the paws aren't big enough.

3 month old Newfie:

Note paw size of 3 month old Newf == paw size of 15 month old Pyrenees

She already eats 3 cups a day (might have to up it soon) & as I said, I taught her LEAVE etc already. Thanks for your photos. Any educated guesses on age? I can post teeth pics if anyone has experience with that (just say so). Also size estimates based on her current size, not Newfie's sizes.
P.S. I'm in Israel so even if she's purebred, she wont be up to standard or from a proper breeder hence deviations from a correct Newfie.

I do think that she looks in the 3 to 4 month range. Does she still have her puppy teeth?

At 3 months Gryf was eating about 8 cups per day but if she's a mix she'll probably need less. Newfs need less food as they get older, not more. I have friends with adults only eating 2-3 cups of food per day and maintaining their pudgy selves well. Alternatively, my 7 year old Labrador only needs 1 cup of dry food per day or he gains weight like crazy and that one cup holds him at about 110 pounds, as a pup he ate at the height 6 cups per day.
Just check her waist and ribs to make sure she's getting enough. You'll know if she's not if there is very little fat felt over the ribs. Gryf is not very food motivated either and I had a lot of luck getting him to focus and eat all of his meals by wetting the kibble down early on, or putting little bits of yummy things in it, yogurt, sodium free beef or chicken broth, etc. Now he eats it dry without a problem.

Good luck with her, she's really cute!

Are these baby teeth?

She's thin but I don't want to bump up her food too fast as I've just got her from bad conditions, changed her food & increased it too. She gets Pedigree large breed puppy as it's the only food here I can read the label on

. She has so much fuzz, I can barely tell without really digging! I'm an animal trainer so luckily I wont have problems with her manners. She is VERY food motivated. I guess it's cause she was always deprived.
