My rooster Barney was a gift from a family member, sent over with one Cornish Rock hen. The pair came from a flea market. I have no idea how old he is, or what breed. He's the biggest chicken I've ever seen, with a white body, a blue/green tail, and orange feathers on his neck; he's very active and pretty aggressive. I'm wondering because I want to let my Ameraucana hens sit on some eggs (which are fertile), but I have no idea what kind of chicken that might produce. Curious! I've been googling my butt off but I can't even find a similar breed. My grandfather calls him "just a regular old rooster". I figure that might be the case, he's just a jumble of farm chicken. Thoughts?

i cant think of any breed that looks like that! so i would say hes mabey a cross...

He is gorgeous! He looks like a barnyard mix to me. Which is all the more reason to hatch out some of his eggs...just to wonder about the possibilities...what's the fun in hatching a bunch of chicks that all look the same? Not a whole lot if you ask me...Like people that breed Golden Retrievers...makes me wonder how people don't just fall over dead with boredom...

"Breaking news!" "This just in: All across the country today hundreds of people died from sheer boredom. Could you be at risk? Find out tonight at 11."

If only they knew that they could have been saved by hatching some mutt chickens...Lol.

That color and comb indicate a quite mixed heritage! He's a classic Barnyard Mix, and by all means feel free to hatch out chicks. But, keep in mind you'll get more roosters, do you know what you'll do with them? Breeding is fun, but you need to have a plan in place to deal with the offspring.

Thanks y'all! I have a hen sitting on some golf balls as we speak, so we'll see how it goes!
