What breed is our free chick from mcmurray ?

I ordered an ornamental layer collection and received 2 that look just like your chick. I think they are Phoenix based on the video on their website. Hopefully it is a pullet by mistake ;)

The reddish feathers are barely visible, they just started to grow. I thought he might be a golden phoenix but mcmurray doesn't seem to have them

No, I'd still guess he's supposed to be Silver Duckwing in color--but may have some red leakage. I can't see any signs of red in the pictures you provided, so I'm not certain though.

I have both Golden Phoenix and Black Breasted Red right now that are around five weeks old--the hackle feathers come in golden or red, they don't seem to start Silver Duckwing and then redden up.

Young BBR Cockerel:

Young Golden Phoenix cockerel--sorry the red light of the lamp makes it hard to see, but the hackle feathers are indeed golden:

Here is a Silver Duckwing Yokohama I had last year, notice the red leakage in the white on his shoulders:

Thank you that was very helpful. Your birds are beautiful. The red leakage in the silver phoenix is not desirable right? This is a hatchery bird and I know you can't expect them to be show quality

I don't believe the red leakage is supposed to be there, but doesn't surprise me in hatchery birds. Honestly, all my birds are hatchery also (except my German New Hampshires).
