what breed is this black mixed chicken?

When we got it as a baby it was dark black so we assumed it would be a black chicken but as it got older it turned grayish and mix. I’ve never seen anything like this chicken. It has such a short tail too. The chick is a little feisty and is sweet. I’m not too certain about the gender though but I’m not too worried but I think it’s a rooster. Any input about breed or gender is helpful. He doesn’t have a lot of feathers.

It is a boy based on comb size and ratty feathers. His friends look to be eggers as others have said as well (if you look at the faces, they have the chipmunk look to them). TS is notorious for mixing birds up in different bins - at least the TS I have nearby is, and one that is about 15 miles away is as well.

Did the bin you buy them from have any breed labels? I'm guessing they had "Americana" labels.
