What breed is this duck?

The bill kind of makes me think Runner could be a mix of Runner/Pekin??

If they mix with something else they can have other colors. I'm pretty darn sure our black duck is a Cayuga but she has some random white feathers mixed in. This looks like a Pekin to me. My Pekin will stand tall sometimes.
Aylesbury is also a white duck. Both are big ducks and grow fast. I don't really care what my breeds actually are since I'm just hanging out with them, but I have noticed my white ducks are much less skittish than my black one. You could have any random mix going on since this duckling probably was from some free range ducks.
The ponds by us the mallards mix with khaki campbells and pekins so theres always some random mixed color ducks over there.
I have found that my girls really enjoy a good scratching under the neck and some feather ruffling. I do a lot of special treats by hand so that when I need them they aren't running away from me. I pretty much get mugged every time I go in the pen.

Some updated photos from today. Her head is starting to turn white. View attachment 1203609 View attachment 1203610 I cant really see much runner in her, is it possible for pekins to have black feathers?

Could even be Swedish. They can hatch almost white, splash. I have one that only has a little black on his back/tail.
How old now?
Can you weigh her? Might give a better if she's going to be a big breed or smaller breed.

I had a Pekin I bought as a duckling years ago that had a black spot like that, once the feathers started to grow in the spot was gone and she was pure white. We named her Dottie.

I'm far from an expert (I raise a few ducks, but they're smaller breeds and Swedes) but the upright stance in your first picture makes me suspect some sort of Indian runner or cross of the same. Or a Buff Orp. They're bred from runners. Does he stand upright a lot? Or was he just posing?

Anyway, I wouldn't be as concerned about breed of companion as about age and gender. He's a cutie.

No matter what its a duck and youll love it. I do find that ducks are very social and you may want to consider picking up another one. We use our big female to help rehab wildlife, and during winters she was very lonely once the mallards were released. That's why we got two ducklings this past spring, assuming one might not make it. Of course both did and all three are best buds now. Once the pond de-ices today ill change it out and try to get a pic of them playing. There a real hoot!
