What breed is this guy?

He's 16 weeks old. This was one of those feed store chicks from an assortment and as a chick it looked like a normal black tuxedo coloring. Smaller chick than most, so for a while I thought they might be bantams. I had 3, dogs killed 2 of them. One of the others was also a rooster and had a buttercup comb. This guy just has a wonky looking single comb. All three of the birds were identical as chicks but as they grew, varying amounts of brown started showing up. This guy is the darkest.

The OP's bird is a Rooster and If he was a Black Sex-Link then he would be barred.

Thanks guys. I was pretty sure myself that it was just some cross breed but from a hatchery, you know, it should sort of resemble a particular breed. I didn't think it did. Thanks again. At least he looks like he's going to be big enough for a nice meal in a few more weeks.

In researching Marans, and keeping in mind what they others looked like, I have to say this guy is a Marans. The others, the little roo and pullet that were killed, were exactly the right colors and looks for a Copper Marans. This dude still looks a lot like a mutt to me but could be a Marans that is, as you say, Hatchery Quality and so not a great breed example
