Recently got a new pigeon. It was in the cage with pigeons I swear they said started with a C but unlike mine it doesn't have a fancy a little feathers that swoop at the back of its head

Hello! welcome to BYC! Where did you get the bird? can you contact them and ask? that may help identify the breed. I cant think of any breeds of pigeons that start with a c that match what your bird looks like. and we cant sex it through a photo. does it coo much? does it dance in circles? does it squeak really high pitched like? What are you feeding him?

EDIT: It wont be squeaking, the eye is to old and clear for that. sorry. if I had to guess, the bird is probably a 2018 hatch.

When it did coo its coos were very subtle. It Bobs its head alot and I've seen it circle around once.
(Also googling the other birds looked like a nis? Or something along those lines)
I fed what the store requested. Not sure what it was it's a mix. But if you have a good feed please recommend me one you would feed yours. Also thank you for the welcome. <3

I recommend any pre-maid pigeon mix. you cant go wrong with those, unless you breed birds (in that case, you would need to be a bit pickier) is this bird kept outside with other pigeons?

I doubt its a nis highflyer. those are pretty rare. I think its a roller homer cross. maybe a roller feral cross.

Thank you for your help <3

And I'm not sure about the nis. But they seem to have really unique looking ones. Ones with really long feathers at their feet and ones with huge collars

Mello is my first pigeon. And I'm not sure if your asking this so you can tell me to have pairs, but I dont I just have her. And yes I have the appropriate time to spend with her every day. She has an entire room to fly and explore.

I also think,,,,,,,,,,, a mix. Nothing wrong with that BTW. What kind of other pigeons do you have??? PIX PLEASE:)
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,, and :welcome

Actually I was not thinking or suggesting you have pairs,,,:idunno I read your original post,,, and was under the impression that you got a new pigeon :wee, adding to the ones you already have.:caf
Serin has only one pigeon currently in his home,,, and it is doing better than when he had two. You can read his postings about his pigeon on this thread.
