Okay, so we got all of that established but can anyone explain why he has white in his wings and tail?

Those legs look very white. Possibly a cuckoo Marans mix. Or barred rock crossed with some white skinned breed like Orpington.

It’s because he’s a mixed breed with barring, I don’t think there’s a specific gene at play.
