what breed is this this girl???

Our fair has a barnyard cross "breed" class as well as "production breed" classes for birds that aren't a recognized breed or that don't fit the standard of the breed they are supposed to be. These birds are judged based on feather condition, body condition, cleanliness, and freedom from disease/defects/deformities (ie missing toes, frost burned comb, etc). AOCCL, SCCL, etc applies to bantam classes. For standard breeds, chickens are entered under American, English, Mediterranean, Continental, Miscellaneous, etc classes.

So, depending on your fair's rules... If she is a standard (large fowl), you would enter her in either the barnyard cross or production class as a red sex link hen (she'll be over a year old by the next fair, I assume). If she is a bantam, you would still enter her as a barnyard cross or production class as a sex link hen. Then you would also enter in showmanship which is about how you prepare your bird (clean, disease free, good condition, etc), how you handle the bird (safely, calmly, etc), and your general knowledge of not only your bird but poultry in general (diseases, husbandry, defects/disqualifications, breeds, classes, etc). Showing birds can really be a lot of fun. I, personally, would recommend you try to find a nice show quality purebred bird or two to show.
