What breed is this? TSC label error? And gender?

I bought these two chicks as “Cuckoo Marans” from TSC. 🧐

I’m guessing Sapphire Gems or something similar? Also, the combs are still super duper small but are those red waffles coming in strong trying to tell me something? Nearly 6 weeks old.

Any guesses for gender and breed?

That would be my guess as well.

I'm not sure about the combs & wattles.

If they actually are Sapphire Gems, they must be female, because males have white barring. If they are some other kind of blue chicken, they could still be either gender.

I'll fall back on the usual unhelpful advice: wait a few more weeks and see what happens.

Looks like my lavender orpington at that age...? She's one of my favorites
I am pretty sure OP's birds are blue, not lavender. Lavender is typically an even shade all over, while blue is more likely to have darker and lighter areas (in this case, darker on the back of the neck, and darker edges almost like lacing on many of the individual feathers).

That would be my guess as well.

Agreed on all points!
