We got a pair of chicks at a local hardware store because we wanted to add two layers but of course ended up with two roosters. What’s new. Anyways we were under the impression that this little white one was a leghorn. In the tub at the store there appeared to be RIR, white leghorns, and Australorps. I figured that’s probably what the hatchery sold as a variety pack which would make sense. We know the red one is a RIR but this white one has me stumped. From what I’ve heard leghorns are supposed to be all white with occasionally an off colored feather. With this guy , when he grows in new feathers they are a beige color and then once they are fully developed they turn white. I’m just wondering if this is a leghorn thing or if maybe he’s a different breed such as a Rhode Island white or a white Plymouth .
