I had chickens when I was a child and I loved having them. We've recently moved where we have the room for chickens, so I adopted 2 chickens from the local animal shelter which told me the young chickens were hens. I've since discovered that this white chicken is a rooster. I'm not sure what breed he is though. He's very easy going. I'm not sure of his age but he just started crowing. What breed do you think he is? It's not the best pic of him but he has a rose comb.

Now that I remember how much fun chickens are, I've ordered a few baby light brahmas from a hatchery. I have 2 coops so after the babies are old enough they won't be going directly in with the rooster. I'm really looking forward to getting back into chickens.

He looks like what you'd get if you crossed a Delaware with some pea combed breed. His comb is similar to what I get on occasion when I cross my Barred Rock rooster over my Ameraucana hens. His hackles are barred, not solid black with white edging like you'd see on a Brahma, but more like a Delaware would have. Are his legs yellow?

I agree. He looks like a Delaware with an odd comb, it doesnt really look like a rose from this angle, but I'll take your word for it. I would say he definitely has Delaware in him

Here's a pic of my Delaware roo. This is Oreo with his mob:

His legs are yellow but they're a pretty light yellow. Here's a pic from a couple of weeks ago. He's almost doubled in size since then.

I really appreciate everyone's help!
