Hatchery quality? I'm new to this. What's the difference? I'm thinking lower quality than buying from a registered breeder?

Birds from a good breeder have crisper, straighter barring. Hatchery Barred Rocks tend to look more like cuckoo, with wavier or more uneven barring. They aren't going to win any APA shows, but they are just fine for a backyard flock.

X2 on junebuggena's post. Below is a picture of a heritage quality Barred Rock rooster and Barred Rock hen bred by reputable breeders. You can see in the pic how crisp and straight their barring is.

They are beautiful, aren't they? You won't get Barred Rocks like these from a hatchery. )
