What breed is this?

What breed is this? This bird just showed up two days ago, we thought it was a duck, but after picking it up today, it honks.... Anyone have any ideas??

I think it is a white Egyptian goose.

Oh my gosh, that is it. I have no idea how it got to our house.

I can't find any information on them. We are in Iowa and its about 32 degrees, is it going to be ok? Can anyone tell me more about them?

Does anyone raise Egyptian geese that can tell me more about them. I don't feel like wikipedia is the most up to date or accurate place to get information.

If I had to guess, I'd say it looks like a "Ross's goose" to me, which are not uncommon for your area.

My quick google says eqypians (usually darker colored) are members of shelduck family and females quack/males hiss. There are good youtube videos to hear how they sound.

Whatever she is, if you willing to spend money, get her Mazuri waterfowl food. It is what zoos/aviaries feed exotic waterfowl, and is especially palatable.
