Yes, but the breaks in the Black hackles means it can’t be a Light Sussex.

Since you aren't breeding or showing your new hens, I think they're only poor quality if they don't
1. Make you smile
2. Don't lay any eggs (mine make me laugh, so I don't even care when they are poor layers)

Poor quality doesn't mean bad chicken
It's a reference to feathering, coloring, size or shape when compared to SOP (standard of perfection). Many chickens bred from hatcheries are considered to be poor quality, but they're still absolutely wonderful birds.

Thank you all! She does make us smile and she's been a good layer for us. She's also our "head" hen. I was overwhelmed in the beginning, but with a little trial and error, we've done well so far!

And her name is Blanche - as in, from the Golden girls.

Alright everyone, I have a few pictures of some of my others ladies that I'm curious about. Let me know if you need more pics or info, they were pretty antsy in the Coop tonight! So it was difficult getting good photos. They're not very photogenic today haha!

Can you get a picture of the first one in better light? I can't tell if her feathers are brown or black lol
The second looks to be a cuckoo Marans, and the third is a buff Orpington

Mottled Java (possibly) as she’s too big to be an Anacona, Cuckoo Marans, and a Buff Orpington.

Is the black mottled one laying? Her egg color could help tell her breed.
