Trying to determine the breed of this rooster. I purchased a mixed lot of ten from Hoover hatchery.

Plymouth Rock perhaps? Maybe even a barred rock?

My best guess would be a pencilled plymouth rock, but the coloring is slightly off. Might be a mix or a hatchery special. I'd check your hatchery's catalog if you can.

The rooster is barred, not pencilled. These are a couple examples of Silver Pencilled Rock cockerels that I have raised. Picture quality is not ideal because they're old pictures, but the difference is still clear
