Because Easter Eggers (EEs) are extremely common, and the pea comb type (small with 3 bumpy rows) and beard characteristics are dominant genes. This is why silkie and EE mixes are extremely easy to spot. Similar to red hair being rare and trumped darker hair in people as a concept

Thank you all so much for your replies! Little miss Patrice has started laying!!
They started out a really light green but now have progressed into an Olive Egger green! The picture doesn't quite do them justice they're quite a lot greener in person.
