What Breed Is This??

I found a chicken in my backyard yesterday and have no idea what kind it is. Can anyone tell me what breed this is and if it's full grown?

Barred rock.
and it looks young but possibly close to full grown, cant tell

It is a Barred Rock or Maran. What color are the legs?

Looks like a Barred Rock to me.

She has a long way to grow.

Looks like a barred rock pullet. Maybe ten weeks, give or take two weeks one way or the other.

If it has yellow legs it's a rock. White legs would be a cuckoo marans. It has a single comb so it's no a dominique.

Are you planning on keeping it?

I don't have any more chickens and I don't know anything about raising them. I've been doing some research on the internet about housing, feeding etc but I still don't know much about them. There are a lot of cats in my neighborhood and I'm worried the chicken won't last long back there without housing. My daughter is 12 and has grown quite fond of the chicken and I'm thinking about keeping it. Can you tell from the pic if it's a male? I definitely can't keep a male in my neighborhood.

Luckily for you, it's a female!

At that age, you can keep it inside of the house until you get a place built for it that's secure.
