Well, a little update -

I did end up returning the chicks and getting my money back. The seller claimed that she hadnt ever kept 3rd generation offspring, and her birds "appeared" to be pure. She then went on to say that she contacted the man she got her adults from and found out that he had their parents free ranged, so it's quite possible they bred with whatever. I swear, if you're gonna breed, why not just breed true and to standard? I just dont get it. Especially if you go out and deliberately advertise you have "pure" birds. You obviously cant do that if you just let them all run together. Sheesh.

Live and learn. Inspect your birds even if your three kids are in the car with the husband and it's pouring down rain outside. I consider myself lucky to have gotten my money back.
