What breed is this lovely chicken?
And what are their pros and cons?
Looks like a blue Langshan.
Looks like a blue copper maran who had two copies of blue gene that diluted copper from hackle if it is maran i have found them to be extremely docile but at the cost of productivity they lay very large eggs thst are chocolate colored great dual purpose but eat a lot and wouldnt make it in the egg market because of feed conversion rate and delayed egg laying mine take at least six montha to lay!
Yes keesmom may be right didnt think the body was right for marans but hatchery birds can vary greatly in type both breeds are comparable in lay rate and size marans lay darker though
x2 and a pullet. Langshan are a good dual breed. In the "Breeds, showing, and genetics" section just above this one on the main forum, there is a thread on there with some information on them.
Beautiful Blue Langshan.
You have a Blue Langshan. Pretty bird!
So is that the same as a Bluebell chicken? That is what I was told it was, but I'm not sure.
I'm not really familiar with the Bluebells, but don't think they have feathered legs?
