I got this little one from a straight run assorted chick bin at the local feed store. on March 13th.
Here it is as 3 days old

And here it is today at 7 weeks old. It was acouple weeks ago when I really noticed for the first time the little feathers by it's face.

So what type is it? And can you tell if it's a he or a she? Sorry not all the pictures are completely clear it can be a challenge to get these little ones to sit still sometimesfor a picture. ;-)

Common Low quality feathering coloring in hatchery bred birds, Yours appears to be a very sloppy patterned Booted & Bearded Quail D'Anver Bantam Hen. A breed with a lovely temperament as a pet but in this individual case not a show quality chicken.

Thank you. I'm not looking to show it. Might get into that here in the next couple of years as my kids get older and get into 4-H.

D'Anvers/Antwerp Belgians don't have straight combs. It's more likely to just be a Buff Columbian D'Uccle. It's not a show quality bird, but decent for a hatchery buy.

Enjoy your little roo :)

Mille Fleur d'uccle roo, got one just like it from my TSC mixed bag and was lucky enough to get a white hen too. Have become one of my favorite breeds since then, such great little birds

I would say buff columbian Cockerel as I have about 10 Mille Fluer Cockerels a lot younger then your boy and they already have their mottling coming in 10 fold. Who knows maybe a late bloomer for spots but i still think Buff columbian D'Uccle Cockerel.
