What breed of chicken did I have as a kid?

I'm getting into Ameraucanas (bantams), and it got me thinking that an Ameraucana *May* have been what I had as a kid.

We called her Punky. She was brown/tan in color, had almost no comb, and the feathers on the top of her head when she was curious or spooked would raise up almost like a cockatiels. That I remember she did have puffy cheaks as well.

She did lay blue eggs. I know this could mean she was an EE as well. Just curious about the feathers on the top of the head thing.....do Ameraucanas and EEs do that?????? I never before saw a chicken able to do that and never have again.

I cant answer your questions, but i wanted to say good choice with ameraucana bantams. Of all my birds, My EE bantans are the sweetest of all.

Well if you think about how birds raise their hackles when they spar or dance, sometimes a few head feathers get raised, too.
