The roosters should be barred. The Black Sex Link is most often a cross between Barred Rock X Rhode Island Red.

Thanks for the clarification. I had asked someone I know locally what breed their chickens were and they told me Black Sexlink, but their chickens were solid black. That is why I was confused...lol. Thanks for straightening that out.
