What breed of chicken lays the most? And what other breeds lay above 250 a year?

If the paper stats are accurate, there are a few of the dual purpose breeds that will lay over 250 eggs a year, including Rhode Island Reds, Plymouth Barred Rocks, Leghorns, and Delawares. There could be others. It also depends on what they’ve been bred for. If you’re buying from a hatchery, odds are they’ve been bred more for egg production than meat production, and will lay more eggs.
