I have only dealt with cochins and do not know much about any other breed. My husband has agreed to build me another coop and run. So, I am going to keep my cochins in one and am thinking about other breeds for the other coop. I would like to know what to get that I can get an assortment of colored eggs??? Pink, blue, green, etc. I know EE's lay colored eggs, but any that I've seen or that my family has all lay a light green/bluish colored egg. I would just like a variety. It's very fun to watch my 4 and 2 year old get the eggs! The extra colors would be great!

EEs are great and you can find them anywhere

orpingtons are great for personality - lay a light brown colored egg

For dark brown, you should go with marans or welsummer

Have fun!

I have a BR and GLWs that lay different shades of brown...the BR is a 'regular' brown like the store bought, the GLWs are a little lighter and one of them is more pinkish brown. I also have EE for green abd a Wheaten Marans for pretty dark brown eggs. No white egglayers here and no blue
