What Breed Of Dog Is This?

What breed of dog do you think this is?
I have my guesses, but I'm not sure.
He was a rescue from the pounds. The owner claimed he was a wolf, obviously he is not and the owner was just looking for an excuse to get rid of him.

Ignore the two playing in the background, he's the one in front walking away.

Lab and border collie ?

I'm going to say Lab/Border Collie or Lab/Aussie. He's beautiful!

I am guessing some Lab and some Border Collie in there. Really has the Border Collie face and smaller ears.

Very pretty dogs! Love the little guy.

I can see border collie. Other than that, he's my favorite--- a BBD (big black dog). I have two and they're the best!

Collies can come in Brindle. I'm going with Lab/collie

What if I told you he has black spots on his tongue?
I'm thinking he has some Chow in him. Do you guys see that?

I would check into the Akita or Chow breeds, probably mixed with collie of some type.... that curled tail and keening howl are just like my Mom's akita mix had

I've thought Akita mix too, he isn't all that tall, but he could definitely have some Akita a ways back and still be his size.
