what breed of duck

i purchased two ducks that i was told were runner ducks, a blue one and a chocolate one.i am pretty sure the blue is a runner duck by the way it walks & i think it's a male, but not sure on that....the chocolate one doesn't walk upright like the blue one and has a blue/black band on it's side & i think it's a female, not sure on that. i'm thinking the chocolate one may be a khaki campbell? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I’d say just from photos I’ve seen that your guess at Khaki Campbell is reasonable. I have no idea about the blue but in your photos it isn’t standing like a Runner. I worked on your photo so it’s easier to see the colors... hopefully I didn’t overdo it.

perfect job on enhancing the pic cindyinSD, the blue/black band really shows up better.

cparrot it does look like the two pics you posted in the head & neck. that blue/black band is actually on the trailing edge of it's wing & when the wings are folded it appears as a band on it's side. do yours have the same blue/black band on their sides like mine does? most of the pics i find of khakis online don't have the blue/black band on the side which is what's throwing me off.

I would say both are runners. They are stunning. Congrats. In my opinion, a duck is a duck and they are great no matter what they are! Lol

@dwlacy my khaki do have the same feather coloration that you are talking about. I think my 2 are drakes but I could be wrong.

I agree with you and the others that said it is a Khaki Campbell. I am pretty sure it is a drake. Those new solid Khaki colored feathers on his wings give him away. He also has the darker, solid feathers above the tail. Females have two toned feathers all over their bodies and the ones above their tails are lighter. This is a picture of a pair of mine when they were young.

cheezenkwackers i belive you are correct....from your before pic it also looks like drakes also start out with a litle darker colored head, which mine has....

so, it looking like i have two drakes, one a khaki campbell & the other a blue runner....can anybody confirm my blue runner is a drake?

looks like i am gonna have to get some runner hens to go with my drakes if i want eggs....does anybody want to buy a khaki campbell drake or trade for runner hens?
