What breed of mixed chickens are these?

She probably won't lay soon as I just found out they are both infested with mites

been busy treating them and the rest of the flock. So cross at the people I bought it from they should really be taken care of properly the poor other one with a hairdo had the worst infestation no wonder her wattles are so pale.

Since the rest of your flock is infected, I guess you've learned the hard lesson of why proper quarantine is necessary. Hope you get things under control soon.

I checked my four other hens I have not seen any signs but I still want to prevent them from getting it. They are on quarantine at the moment only had these chickens for a week guess I was lucky I checked the newbies. I'm a first time chicken keeper and everyone has been very helpful

. I have been treating them the natural way i.e garlic solution and wormed them as well. If garlic does not work I'm gonna have to go to the vet .
Has anybody used garlic to treat mites on chickens? If so how long does it take to work?

Don't forget to give them plenty of access to dust baths. You can put a bit of food grade diatomaceous earth and it will help. Glad you didn't just throw them in with the rest though.

Hubby says chuck them all in, because that's what they used to the in the farm

after I told him chicks have mites he changed his mind lol these poor chicks have been caged most of the time I think my 4 other girls are often out free ranging and dust bathing in their fav spots quite often. Winter is coming soon so I have to prepare a special place with sand for them to bathe in

put a half cup DE with the sand....it will kill the mites fast! It also help their ammunition system. My chickens free range year round! But are locked in their coop from dawn to dusk.
