Or a better question could be - when are hatcheries going to realize that people would like the chickens they buy to look more like the breed they represent?

What kills me is the pictures in the catalogs look like good quality breeding. Then the chicks grow up and you see them on here and we are all trying to make an educated guess for the newbie owners!

What kills me is the pictures in the catalogs look like good quality breeding. Then the chicks grow up and you see them on here and we are all trying to make an educated guess for the newbie owners!

They always take pics of their very best breeders for those pics; and sometimes hatcheries will even borrow someone else's pics and post them in their catalog as though they were their own birds. A good example is found with the image of the Red Sex Links below. A number of different hatcheries use this same image in their catalogs, including Stromberg's Hatchery, Welp Hatchery, and Calranch. There is no way this same pair of birds can belong to the flocks of all them. And this is just one of numerous similar examples.
