What breed rooster do I have!?

Well the ones that you think are roosters I have to agree with you. The fact that the combs are big and red, but the other bird of the same age has a small orange colored comb...That is usually a give away...

I agree, that last bird does look to be a pullet, and I'll bet she's quite striking when she's all grown up!
The other three are roosters.

Not sure about the breed of the big roo, but for your four little ones I agree that three are roos, and that lightest one is a pullet. ...I think. Hens don't usually have that color pattern, but her comb and face are super pullety. Post a pic of her grown up? I'd love to see how her pattern turns out!

Im not sure how to start a new post, I do this from my phone but y'all all have been so very helpful so I figured I'll just add my new question and pic here. I would like to know what breed my hen is. She is 5 months old and started laying brown eggs a week ago. And I need to know how to care for fresh eggs....do I wash them right away, can we eat them right away and is there a way to know if the egg was fertilized? She is in with a rooster. And also Im trying to get rid of my roosters, will my hen be upset by this and stop laying eggs? Sorry I ask alot of questions, I am clueless about these things but Im learning :)

Welcome!

At the top of this page, under the title of the thread "What breed of rooster do I have?" is a button to start a new thread. That's what you use to start your own question, etc.

Your hen looks like a white Rock. They're known to be pretty calm and nice layers of brown eggs. If she just started laying, her eggs will gradually get larger over the next few months.

You can eat your eggs right away. Wash or don't wash, fridge or counter, doesn't really matter. Eggs can set at room temp for weeks and still be good if they're unwashed.

If your hen is in with a rooster, chances are her eggs are fertile. I don't have the link right off, but if you look on the incubating eggs forum there's some good pics of fertile eggs. It takes a practiced eye to see fertility. Basically, on the yolk there's a little circle. If that circle has a ring around it, making it look like a bullyeye, it's fertile. No difference in taste, etc.

Chickens don't really like change, so if you change her flock she may get a little stressed and not lay, but she'll start up again. Her body will be telling her "Hey, birds are vanishing, maybe not a great time to have babies".......but she'll adjust and lay again. Then again, if you have a lot of roos and not many hens, sometimes the hens lay better when the roos are gone as they don't get overmated anymore.

Thanks so much Donrae! You have been so helpful! And Yes she is very calm and loves getting her pic taken lol. She is in with 4 roosters total but 3 are still young. Thanks again!!
