what breed rooster is this?

it was hard to get 1 cause he kept moving. i took pics of both of them so you can see the difference in the heads. if you still need a better picture of the 1 with the feathers on top his head, let me know and i'll try again.
Very strange. I wonder if he'll eventually lose it.

i'm not sure. my husband and i were sure we had 2 different breeds cause of that feature. i wasn't even sure they were sapphire gems cause of the way they looked. that's why i figured i'd ask on here what they were.
Yeah that's definitely not something a Gem should have. That's why I initially said mixed breed on him.

it's my understanding sapphire gems are already mixed as it is, so are you saying he might not be a sapphire gem even if he's mixed?

I honestly have no idea. He came from TSC right? Hoover's is a main supplier of TSC. Lately they've been pumping out a lot of mixed breeds. It wouldn't surprise me if he was the result of some of the mixing they've been doing.

I saw bantam Cochins this year with 5 toes come from them. They didn't look mixed other than the extra toes. Your boy looks like a Gem except for that odd little crest. I tagged a couple people who I'm interested in hearing from in regards to his crest.

yes both roosters came from TSC in the sapphire gem bin. we thought we were getting hens from there and then we found out when they grew bigger that they were indeed roosters. we would have liked to have hens for the eggs, but this actually killed 2 birds with 1 stone cause we had planned on ordering a rooster. well in this case we ended up buying 2 roosters without knowing they were roosters at the time.
