What Breed Should I Get?

I have no near neighbors, and my county requires anyone who lives here to sign that they acknowledge that they may have to deal with farm noise. Love that clause! I have a very, very loud rooster. The nearest neighbors are about 1/3 mile away on the other side of our wooded ravine.

I would have ordered a Muscovy, honestly, but they are sold out. They MUST be a great breed!

I would love to have some 'scovies, but only girls and nobody seem to sell sexed Muscovy ducklings. Anybody knows why?

That's the plan! I ordered a Runner, a Welsh Harlequin, a Swedish, and a Pekin.

No idea. I looked ar a few hatcheries, and they all say unsexed for Muscovies. Maybe a breeder would be a better route? I think they are very cool looking ducks! I would have ordered one, but I, too, only want girls.

The only breed I wouldn’t get again would be the pekin. They’re cute, but like others have explained they have more health issues.

I ordered a Pekin. What health issues? I have heard/read this before, but never anything specific.
