What breed will you definitely add to your flock?

I think i will be adding more... Silver Penciled Rocks, Bantam Faverolles (salmon) Buff cochin bantams, A science fair project ( New hapshire X Blue Australorp cross, i will then cross the one pair to geather to see what i get) these are just some of the breeds i think

My long term plan is to add Hedemoras or Swedish black hens or traditional farm-mixes from my area. Just as needed, every few years, when the flock genetics need new blood.
My flock is a traditional farm mix based on the genetics of those breeds, but very few people still have their old farm-mixes from the area, which I'd prefer to use, so I guess I'll need to get Hedemoras or Black hens for occasional fresh genetics, when I can not get hold of our own area-mixes. So far it seems like I do not need to add anything next breeding season though.

Would like to add a few Blue Rocks (from Halo), maybe a Welsummer, a Marans, and red sex-link. Also plan on making my own olive eggers.

We have plans to eventually move to the country and increase our flock up to 25 chickens. We currently have 6, each one of them a different breed. I am currently actively searching for a wheaton, blue, or black copper marans, preferably around 3 months old. I have a 3-month-old mutt pullet & she was originally one of 3 straight-run chicks I got in July. The other 2 turned out to be cockerels and were rehomed, but she's younger than the rest of the flock and is kind of lonely since her brothers left so I would like to find a companion pullet for her that is closer to her age. Anyone in northern/central California that has a marans pullet available that hatched around mid July, message me. I'll come get her and pay you a fair price.

I also wouldn't mind having another welsummer. The one we have has recovered from fowl pox and is the sweetest chook (she's my husband's baby).

I tend to look at the Henderson Chicken chart to get an idea of breed characteristics. That narrows it down for me...rather necessary, or I'd want some of everything!

Then I do more online research on the breed(s) that look interesting, and maybe interact with some breeders.

We have cold winters,
want chickens that get along,
can stand confinement in the winter,
are not flighty, and
we like a variety of colors of eggs.
I stay away from featherfeet, as they do kill off the grass in the vicinity of the coop, and they get mud.

I love my one white Plymouth Rock, as she's friendly and smarter than the average chicken. So I'm getting other Rocks, hoping for the same.

I really like my Bantam Black Breasted old English Game, so have gotten some other "colors" to see how they do. They're friendly, don't make a mess, and their eggs are quite a large size for being such a small chicken who spends the day foraging.

I got some Heritage Delawares, thinking I could sell the hatching eggs more easily than some of the other breeds.

There are lots out there I think look cool...so might try some time: Icelandic, Russian Orloff, Mille Fleurr colored something, Norwegian Jaerhon.

...would need more coop construction, though! ha.
