They both do have male feathering, although it's difficult to see.

They're clearly very young. And they also have typical baby cockerel faces, particularly the left one.

Photo number 2 with the purple tinged feathers suggests to me it isn't getting proper nutrition. This comes from someone who raises black sumatra and that is the classic sign you need to change feed. I do not know if this is helpful to the OP, but just my 2 cents.

Hmm... interesting. I guess certain breeds are more difficult to sex? I knew my RIRs were cockerels when I was picking them out of the bin at TS.

Both are cockerels. Probably marans

Have to agree, they both look like young black copper Marans cockerels. I would guess somewhere between 10-12 weeks of age. Just starting to get the copper feathering around the neck.
