Yeah, my first thought was a New Hampshire but I really have no clue. I based this on a search but thought I best ask experts. No I don’t think it’s a bantam. The pic is actual from an auction and I’ve been looking at using this auction as a source for more chickens (no inadvertent roosters). Of course this made me realize that, outside of BO’s I really am weak on chicken breeds.Hard to say from that picture alone. Could be a Rhode island red or New Hampshire, or even a mix breed. Is it a bantam or standard size?
I understand. I do know that the Delaware department of Ag is onsite for the livestock and poultry auctions—— not sure that this makes any difference. I have sold a rooster there though.I, honestly, wouldn't advise you buy birds from auctions. Too many risks, of disease especially. Try to find NPIP certified breeders with tested flocks.
Okay, as long as you know the risks. I would quarantine any birds that come from an auction, poultry show, etc. for at least a month.I understand.
