What breed?

We have a 8 week old pullet who is confusing us a bit. She was labeled Barred Rock, but has a tuft, brown in her neck, and pale legs. Any ideas? Thanks for the guesses!

Looks like a Marans x Legbar olive egger. Definitely some sort of mix anyway

Unless it's from a breeder breeding for SOP or I'd say 90% chance for SOP-adjacent birds from a few select hatcheries, backyard breeders (nothing against them!!!) Things can get mixed up, and it sucks but they should still be good birds!

Although if you bought these for showing or 4H or the such I WOULD send a message/call where you got them, cause then it would matter!!

Thank you, everyone! We got them through a shop in Minnesota, but they get their chicks from Hoover’s I believe. So a barnyard mix would be surprising, I’d think.

I'd contact that feedstore if their breeds matter to you : D I personally like the 'weirdos' though!

It's probably an olive egger than. A designer mix breed that most hatchery's sell now.
