Hey everyone, so I’ve decided that in November I want to add 3 female ducks to my backyard flock! I’ve had two ducks before but that was a long time ago and I was pretty young so I don’t remember what it was like so I’ve been researching and I know everything I have to do to take care of them correctly the only thing I haven’t decided on was the breeds I wanted. Eggs don’t really matter to me since I already have my chickens for that although I wouldn’t complain if it’s a good egg layer, friendly these are gonna be pet ducks and that’s really it would love to hear breed suggestions!

I’ve always kept rouens and calls. Rouens are really layed back and lay good. Calls are just tiny pet ducks that make you smile. They’re escape artists though. I hope you find the ones you’re looking for!

two words, BLUE SWEDISH! I have one and she is AMAZING, super nice, funny, docile, and just PERFECT! I also have cayugas and they're not as perfect and amazing as my blue swedish but they're pretty cool! 110% suggest blue swedish though

That was actaully one I was considering looks like you just sealed the deal! I’ve come to a decision I’m going to get one Rouen, one Fawn and white Runner, and one Blues Swedish!

Definitely go with at least one runner! I have a Fawn and White Runner named Agatha and she is just the sweetest duck. Today I tripped in the grass and all of a sudden I heard duck feet. When I looked up there was Agatha less than a foot away from me with her head cocked sideways looking like "Hey are you okay?" She let me pet her and as soon as I stood up she waddled back to the rest of the flock.

So cute, I’m definitely getting one!
