Just curious... what makes you say that? Is a RIR a production red? This is where the production red thing confuses me.

I honestly don´t know what a hatchery production red is but To me It kinda looks like My deceased ISA brown she was red but always had a little white in the wings.

I'm not sure, but I think that a production red is a different strain of RIR. They will not win at shows over heritage reds which are the other strain.

I think Production Red is a red chicken, whose ancestors were Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire or both, and that has been bred for high egg production.

Not much different than a hatchery Rhode Island Red, except even less emphasis on how it's supposed to look.

Interesting! I was simply told that they weren't RIRs, they were something else!
