I have not had turkeys before and initially bought 2 hoping one would be male. They are Standard Bronze and I'm sure of that. So, I used that old wives tale method of picking 3 more poults (if they hang their feet down they are female, if they draw feet to chest they are male) and I did get two males! I thought I picked a pair of Bourbon reds, but they are very light. I thought that they would get darker sooner. My poults are 3 days short of one month old. Then I have another one I thought might be a Narragansett, but I have no idea really!! Can you help me with breed? Thanks so much!

First one looks like a bourbon. Are they supposed to be purebred?
Yes, they were advertised as purebred "heritage" breeds. I thought the first one was bourbon red, looking at pictures at a day old, but I thought it would be much darker in color by this age. The second I have no clue! Thanks!

Bourbon darken when they get their adult feathers at around 3-4 months of age.

2nd one looks like a Blue Red Bronze. They aren’t APA recognized, so finding pictures is hard. But they are so gorgeous as adults.

Here’s my blue red bronze guy (he’s molting, so he doesn’t look that great)

The breed is Turkey for all domestic turkeys.

Those do seem light colored for the variety Bourbon Reds.
