But most are barred, so it fits.Yeah, their "Rainbow" really throws a wrench in trying to ID as they can look like most anything.

Then either one of the chicks that died was a Wyandotte or they miscounted. Not mad either way. I wonder what the "Rainbows" are? Mixes or just random birds left over? I guess we wait and see. Thanks for the answerThe bird is barred, and Hoover's doesn't offer barred Wyandottes. I'm not even sure they exist. Hoover's does offer Rainbows under dual purpose breeds, and I am betting that's what this chick is.
It's a dual purpose, unrecognized breed. They have goals and follow a selection process, same as any breed, it just isn't something that you can enter in a show. Then either one of the chicks that died was a Wyandotte or they miscounted. Which is ok, I took a risk ordering a mix, but that makes me even more confused on what the two that died were. Guess I will never solve that riddle. ahhh, gotcha. It's a dual purpose, unrecognized breed. They have goals and follow a selection process, same as any breed, it just isn't something that you can enter in a show.
They are a specific dual purpose hybrid bred for fast growth. They can lay well, but they are mostly used for meat by those who don't want Cornish cross or Red Rangers. It is the fast growth above all that makes me think your chick is a Ranger. Then either one of the chicks that died was a Wyandotte or they miscounted. Not mad either way. a Welbar would be cool, but you're probably right, it's just a Rainbow. He is definitely growing faster than the others. He probably won't stay on as a breeding rooster, but it will be fun to watch and see what he turns into. They are a specific dual purpose hybrid bred for fast growth. The other two possibilities are Bielefelder or Welbar, in my opinion.
