What breed?

Last year, I started a flock of RIR's for meat and eggs, to my dissappointment most of the meat was very tough, and so this year I am keeping the RIR hens for eggs and would like advice on the best of the best for meat birds something that doesn't take too long either...Thanks...love everyone's advice

I had RIR last year too and the meat was not pleasant. I have cornish x rocks this year. I am in love with these birds. One just weighed in at 7.5 lbs at seven weeks. Yes they are slow and yes they do poop a lot.
But after a whole summer with the RIR last year oly to have thin tough birds this is like heaven. Named some BBQUE and some DELIous. I would not hesitate to do this breed again.
