What Breed?

The only time an EE gets a single comb is when the pea comb on the mother or father has a bad pea comb. It is hard to explain. I can't think of another better word than bad.

Not necessarily Maxx. DTchickens and jossanne are right, in that a bird that has a pea comb, could also be carrying the single comb. Nothing states that pea combed breeds need to have the "modified" combs in order to throw single combed offspring.

Oh okay. Somebody on BYC told me otherwise. I will see if I can find the post and I will show ya.....

Thanks for all of the great comments and help. Here are a few more pics to help:

I know he's not an EE, but I haqve seen several EE roos with similar coloring, so whatever they crossed with must throw that coloring....I, for one, like it. I myself have an EE rooster with sim ilar coloration and I would love to know what he's crossed with, and I bet your roo is crossed with it as well!
Heres mine

I have no idea what mix that roo is , but he is striking in appearance . One thing about dominate and recessive genes I had to learn was not to think that dominate genes " kill " recessive genes , they only " hide " them . It seems to me that the pea comb type is not necessarily completely dominate over other combs and its size and shape can be modified by other types untill it's pretty difficult to identify as a pea comb . [ At least that's what my poor understanding of genetics has come up with LOL ]
