What breed?

Apparently you either have all jumbos or all pharaohs because the jumbos I used to have ate twice what my smaller birds eat. I have 10 coturnix chicks in a brooder right now (2-3 weeks old). They have the bottom of a round chick feeder. There is also a young guinea in the brooder. I filled that bottom-of-a-chick feeder 2 days ago and had to fill it again today. When my jumbos were babies they had the same set-up. I filled it twice a day usually. Granted, there were 17 birds in that group and only 10 in this, but that should have only made it, at most, need to be filled daily.

I was wondering the same thing! Thanks for all the great info!

Jumbo browns!! A&M are about the same but I like the browns darker meat better

I don't know about that.. I butchered about 5 birds one night. The whites were lighter fleshed than the browns were

Actually, I have coturnix of all sizes including some from your stock! Out of respect, I will not evaluate your stock in an open forum!

Please read what I'm trying to say, and not try to make some (NON POINT). I'm way past the 12 year old girl arguments.
The larger the bird, the more feed they eat!
There is no such thing as 12-14 oz. coturnix at 8 weeks of age! I really wish people who don't actually raise their birds to this age for meat production, would stop making stuff up!!!!!!!!
Most people who claim that weight, don't even own a scale! Looks like a 14ounser to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a side note: I don't have or didn't used to have coturnix. They are the only birds I raise (Which doesn't make me an expert), but, I really get put off, trying to sell birds in a market, so full of exaggerations!

True, but when you cooked them up.......They tasted just like coturnix!
