I received 14 duck eggs from a friend to put in my incubator. He did not know what breed these eggs came from. He has several breeds running around on his farm and told me that he usually doesn't pay attention to the eggs they lay and doesn't even look for their nests.

He found this nest of 14 eggs purely by accident and knew that I wanted some duck eggs to hatch in my incubator. He called me about the eggs so I went and picked them up.

The eggs are grenish-blue in color. Can anyone here tell me what breed they may have come from?

Thanks,

Tim

Sounds like it could be a different kind of Runner Duck. Different variations of runners lay colored eggs!
I'm not an expert, but that's what it sounds like to me !

This one is a little lighter in color than the ones I have but it sure looks like it's the one. Thank you so much for your help.

Okay, here's another question. My friend called me again this afternoon and said he had 4 more duck eggs for me. These eggs are an off-white and smaller than the 12 greenish-blue ones I have. Any Ideas on what breed these 4 may be?

Thanks,

Tim

Really could be anything! The whites could be pekin, or welsh harlequin, even runner. Maybe even a mix bred.

My friend does have a few Pekins running around. No Runners, that I saw. Don't know what Welsh Harlequin looks like.

These off-white eggs are just a bit larger than a small chicken egg. Pekin eggs are pretty large, aren't they?

Just looked up Welsh Harlequin ducks. Didn't realize they looked so much like a Mallard. It said on the site that the WH lay white and greenish eggs, so maybe all of the duck eggs I have are from the WH.

Thank you all for your input and help. I knew I could count on you folks to find the answers I needed.
