This chick was part of our first hatch ever and came with Silkie/Showgirl eggs. Now, that the feathers are coming in--it seems obvious that it is some other breed (apparently bantam as the egg was the same size as the others). S/he is also significantly larger than the other chicks.

Thanks in advance,

Kelly

Nice looking chick but need a little time to really tell

Yes, princess chickens. LOL We had fun taking photos. This bird was good to wear the tiara but it went flying a few times with some of the others. The tiara is light pink and the feet are yellowish orange with a slight green undertone. I processed the photos on my laptop which seems to be spot on for color but it might differ on other monitors/mobile devices.

It will be interesting to see what "Red" turns out to be. S/he is a very sweet bird and will come when I call. Was also great to sit for photos. Since s/he came in a batch of Silkie eggs shipped in from Kentucky; I'm guessing that **someone** got into the seller's Silkie pen by mistake. Recently saw someone's Salmon Faverolle chick that looked quite similar. This is our first time with hatching chicken eggs, so while I wanted only Silkies and Showgirls; we are still happy just to have a nice hatch.

Yes I know about shipped egg's it is a real crap-soot at best just to get them to hatch let alone getting what you wanted ...

how log did it take to get the photo you wanted as I have a hard enough time catching them in the natural mode ...

<3 your guinea & chickens :) Birds are SO much fun!

I still have our chickens inside and they are VERY tame. It only took a couple of minutes to shoot them (only took photos of 5 birds). Most of the time was spent running them in and out. IF you can shoot in a secure area with natural light and a helper--it's easier. Most animals don't like a flash. [I do use flash with the show dogs specifically to get them used to it from the time that they are small as inevitably someone is going to flash them in the ring.] The rest of the album is at: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/...289.1073741866.1446768289&type=1&l=4e097cc560
