What breeding projects are you working on or you want to work on.

That is one pretty rooster. I really like him. Keep us updated with your project.

Thanks, will do. Still waiting for his girlfriends to start laying. Should be any time now.

I have started this as well, have one that is silkied, just gotta wait to see if she lays the colored egg. maybe we could swap eggs?

Sounds pretty good to me! I'll put you on my buddy list and when the molt is done and egglaying picks back up, I'll send a PM. It will be good to have non-related chickens to do some crosses with.

sounds good as mine are motling now to

I'm working with Silkie Bantams and Seramas. I bought a batch of eggs that were Silkie/Serama and only one hatched due to large issues with my past incubator, it was amazing that even one hatched. He's my little survivor. I'm not sure exactly what end result I want, but I like that he wasn't exactly a silkied serama, but a mix. I named him Ash, because he's all white with black flecks that look like ashes on snow. I'm trying to get him a silkie mate and see what comes out. But I love the two breeds and I wanted to see what I could get out of mixing them, with their sizes, coloring and types of feathers. I also have lavender silkies in the incubator, a beautiful serama pair on the way, along with serama eggs and silkie eggs. So I'm in for a lot of fun, work and love. Oh and who knew chickens cuddled??? My chick nuzzels and trys to burry himself in the feathers I don't have. And does anyone know what a cricket sounding chirp means? I didn't even know he could make that sound. (I love my little guy

to tell the difference from lavender and blue, look at the feather shaft. if it's white or light, it's a lavender. if it's black or blue, then the bird is blue. keep in mind, your bird could carry both.
my project is frizzled silkies (sizzles). I have some that should be showable next spring if the color holds.
also have the smooth which I refer to as "slickies"

That is a blue. Maybe it is blue split for lavender (carries the lavender gene)?

Well, not that they are uncommon, but I'm working on Mille Fleur bantam Cochins. I only have 5 birds for my project at the moment but that will change soon.

Next year I am hoping to start a chocolate bantam Cochin project. We'll see how the hubby likes that idea...

I just have a bunch of mutts now, and I'll keep those for free ranging and bug eating, but my mind is already fast forwarding to having some runs with controlled breeding, one or two heritage breeds, and one for fun mutt fuzzy chickens (silky, polish and other silliness).

But for now, just my Anatolian Shepherds...
