Pansy- her breed is a mystery but I think it’s possible she’s a poorly bred black Sumatra (I think they were from ideal and black Sumatra is on their bantam list)

I just wanted to update everyone on my ladies! Just cell phone pictures this time. I ended up with 5 girls (the 4 boys were all rehomed). They’re now around 22 weeks and are all laying (Panda laid her first egg the day before she was either 17 or 18 weeks old... can’t remember which one it was but it was early!).

Looks as though you're pretty much correct on the breeds! :) All have grown into stunning birds. :love

One thing I'm going to add here is; Pansy doesn't appear to be a Sumatra (unless those at Ideal are, as you stated, poorly bred). Her single comb, visible wattles, and slate legs tend to line up more with hatchery quality White Faced Black Spanish than anything else.

Maybe that’s what she is! She’s flighty and terrified of the world (her name suits her!), lays a creamish tan color egg, has really pretty iridescent feathers, has a bit of black on her comb, and complains like a loud pterodactyl if I don’t give her treats. I call her my feral chicken. Whatever she is she’s a weird one :lau
